A tiny sewing tools upgrade! I made a new cover fo

A tiny sewing tools upgrade! I made a new cover for my pressing ham (swipe for before). The old one was so ugly and it certainly wasn’t necessary but the new one is so happy!

It was easy enough to make the cover but getting it tight and sewing the cover shut was tricky. A tailors ham is filled with sawdust- who knew??! So there’s absolutely no give in the filling which means the fabric has to fit just right.

I used canvas on one side and wool on the other so hopefully it stands up to lots of pressing ☺️🤞

Our trip was The. Best.
But home is pretty good too.
After a year (so much more than a year) of staying home, it felt so good to leave and come back again. Such an important feeling, that reclaiming of “home”.

Currently, that reclaiming means embracing Miami’s version of nature. I’ve been getting outside again even though it’s so dang hot. I still prefer mountains over beaches but I gotta say… this place ain’t bad.

Colorado Mondays, just like most days in Colorado,

Colorado Mondays, just like most days in Colorado, are made for being outside. We spent the morning driving through Rocky Mountain National Park, and did the first section of our drive on this crazy historic road.

It’s called Old Fall River Road, and it was opened in 1920. It’s one way, one lane, dirt and gravel, with no guardrails and lots of switchbacks. It was so fun to drive and it really felt like we were in the middle of something special.

Every time we saw a patch of snow on the mountains I would squeal. Mountains are the best.

The impetus of our Colorado trip was an incredible

The impetus of our Colorado trip was an incredible highlight of the trip but also my LIFE. Guster played Red Rocks… with the Colorado Symphony. It was unbelievable. Red Rocks is the most amazing venue, and @guster was floored to see so many of their fans in one place. They clearly have so much fun making music together and it’s delightful to watch. It was such an awesome show. Absolutely worth flying across the country for!

On Saturday evening we visited the gorgeous Denver

On Saturday evening we visited the gorgeous Denver Botanic Gardens where I swooned over wildflowers and adorable cacti. There were also bunnies. 😍

This was my first wear of my new #ddsirocco jumpsuit that I made just in time for the trip! I LOVE it and it was so fun to make.

I loved the quilt-like design of one of the garden gates (photo 3). It was such an inspiring and well-designed place.

Then it was off to @acreagecolorado for tasting ciders, incredible food, and the most delectable apple cider donuts. Yum. And, of course, wonderful company.

On Saturday morning we went for the most gorgeous hike with my cousins. I was thrilled to spend time among real trees and majestic mountains.
We hiked ALMOST 7 miles (6.9 to the chagrin of our Fitbits/Apple watches) to a gorgeous lake set in the mountain top.

Plus, I even got to wear a sweatshirt, which is always a cozy event for this reluctant Florida resident.

We spent a long weekend in Colorado and it was just the best. So good to delight in mountain views, savor cool mornings and evenings, sample new treats and brews, and spend time with my wonderful cousins.

Friday was dedicated to exploring Denver, starting with @fancytigercrafts for beautiful fabrics and then @denverbiscuitco for the most ridiculous biscuit sandwich and an ENORMOUS biscuit cinnamon roll 😍

We also did a lake walk, visited the Wings Over the Rockies air museum, and celebrated the olympics opening ceremonies with a cozy gathering at my cousins’ home (which included Olympic Rings made of fruit and an Olympic torch out of mango!).
